The Tetley is an modern art museum located in the centre of Leeds. Its home is the former headquarters of the Tetley Brewery. It offers visitors a range of contemporary art, workshops and (of course) pints of Tetley’s.
Now into its 5th year and going strong, The Tetley has supported the work of over 500 artists and welcomed over 600,000 visitors. In a short time, it become the vanguard for contemporary art in Leeds.
The Tetley hosts dozens of artist every year, inviting visitors to explore the latest and greatest modern art talent. You can also get involved with workshops, community events and educational talks.
The on-site bar and kitchen offers a range of meals designed to reflect the creativity of The Tetley. Using locally sourced ingredients, visitors can choose from a range of hot and cold meals, wines and beers. The Tetley is a great place to meet up after work, host a party, or just spend the night among the art.
Founded by Joshua Tetley in 1822, the Tetley name is synonymous with Leeds. It has over 200 years of local beer brewing tradition. As such, there is more to The Tetley than modern art.
It has inherited an archive of material from the Brewery’s industrial past. Free to explore, this collection contains hundreds of items relating to the history of the brewery. It includes paintings, architectural plans, photographs, marketing ads and commemorative beers.
The Tetley is open every day from 10am and entry is free. If you are travelling by car, you will find The Tetley easy to get to from motorway. The Brewery Car Park provides ample parking. If you are walking from the city centre, it is just a short ten minute stroll over Leeds Bridge to the south bank of the River Aire.
