About Paignton

Part of the borough of Torbay, Paignton is well known due to its nearby zoo, first opened in 1923, and set of three TV series, most recently on CBBC’s “The Zoo” show in 2017. One of the most popular visitor attractions in Paignton, there are many other sights for locals and tourists alike, including the sandy beach, Kirkham House, Palace Theatre and Berry Pomeroy Castle, said to be one of the most haunted castles in Britain.

Mentioned as early as 1086 in the Domesday Book, Paignton grew substantially from a former fishing village to a town of some distinction, especially with the building of the Oldway Mansion by Isaac Merritt Singer, the inventor. He founded the Singer Sewing Machine Company. His name is now known locally for the local branch of Wetherspoon’s, which has been named in his honour. The main seafront is dominated by the 240-metre-long Pier and is situated not too far from the centre of town, which offers a range of shops and facilities.

Enjoying a mild climate and home to sub-tropical palm trees, walking around Paignton in the summer can provide a continental vibe, while features such as the Velopark, Splashdown Quaywest and Steam Railway offer something for everyone.

Since much of the town was built from the Victorian period onwards, many properties have larger windows, making them perfect for window shutters. Offering excellent privacy from passers-by and controlling the light, why not contact us today and discover how shutters could breathe new life into your Paignton home?
