Hardwood shutters are popular for the older property styles found in Old Town, however at Shuttercraft we also supply and fit versatile MDF shutters, coated with polypropylene for added strength, as well as our fully waterproof ABS Java range which is perfect for humid areas such as bathrooms.

Adding a layer to your windows, and especially effective when the louvres are closed, shutters give your home a layer of additional insulation, meaning your home stays warmer during winter months, and can remain a bit cooler in the summer. As they are all made-to-measure, a perfect fit is assured, even for unusually shaped windows such as arches and portholes.

As a technical product, shutters can be a confusing choice, so we can help provide you with the necessary information to allow you to make informed decisions. Whether you choose the finest solid wood, our water-resistant ABS or incredibly popular MDF range, there is a vast array of shapes, sizes and colours to help match your design ideas, including a custom colour option for people with a really adventurous spirit!

We work with our customers to help them find the right solution for their design choices and requirements. Contact us today to book your free survey and find out how we can help you breathe new life into your home designs.

About Old Town

Located in the heart of the town, Eastbourne’s oldest village includes a 12th century pub, the town’s historic church dedicated to St Mary, the Pilgrims House, Manor Gardens and Motcombe Park. There are a number of plaques located throughout Old Town which commemorate former residents and visitors to Eastbourne such as comedian Tommy Cooper and famed novelist Charles Dickens.

Eastbourne’s name originates from the ‘burne’ (stream) that used to run through the Old Town area, although little now remains of this original watercourse. The bubbling source remains in what is now Motcombe Gardens, guarded by a statue of Neptune, although the small pond is now all that is left of the former stream.

There are still a number of shops running along the main road, the A259, which was once the main thoroughfare through Eastbourne as the town grew during the Medieval and Georgian eras. Some of Eastbourne’s most exclusive properties can also be found in Old Town, with a number of timber framed homes in Park Close being worth well over half a million pounds.

Whether you live in Old Town itself or in surrounding areas such as Jevington, Stone Cross, Pevensey and Polegate, there will be a shutter to suit your home and style. Get in touch with us at Shuttercraft and book your free home appointment today.
