The Garden Centre is a family run business on the outskirts of Monmouth, just off of the A40, and not far from the River Trothy, nestled in a scenic valley in a particularly rural part of Wales.
The Wright Family moved to the site of Millbrook in 1971. The existing buildings were in desperate need of renovation as well as financing the project, so Mr & Mrs Wright started growing vegetables to sell and raise some much needed funds.
Since that point, over the next 5 decades, the business has evolved and grown to become what it is today, covering the whole of a seven acre site.
The Garden Centre is still in the hands of the Wright family, with daughter Sarah taking charge of the summer basket/bedding plants, and new family member Ian, the Wrights’ son-in-law overseeing the accounts.
Millbrook aims to be a traditional garden centre, with its core passion and values to people get their garden growing. As a local independent garden centre, rather than being part of a wider chain, the staff at Millbrook know what grows in the Monmouth area, and can advise on the best techniques to look after your plants. As an independent retailer they can also choose what they sell, so do not stock china or chocolates, just tools, plants, compost, and building materials!
Maintaining the local atmosphere, the staff all tend to come from around a 4 mile radius, with the vast majority having grown up in the Monmouth area. The staff are proud of the business, and as a result, the Wrights are proud of them. At Millbrook Garden Centre, the staff try to help people of all abilities with any gardening problems that may arise, and do not offer a ‘quick fix’ for any gardening requirements, preferring a professional and knowledgable approach.
Since it was founded, Millbrook has always provided the highest quality plants and trees, with helpful staff on hand when customers need advice on planting or help carrying purchases to their cars. Visitors who want to relax and enjoy a coffee on the veranda can do so in both style and comfort.
