The Hoe, Plymouth, Devon, PL1 2AA
At the southern end of Hoe Park, Plymouth is the Tinside Lido, an Art Deco-style outdoor pool that has been delighting visitors since the 1930s.
This famous Plymouth landmark is Grade II listed, so people can enjoy the unique design of this pool for years to come. It is 180ft in diameter and features a large central fountain and two smaller fountains at the sides.
Open during the Summer months, this outdoor salt water swimming pool offers both local people and visitors to Plymouth a beautiful space to swim, sunbathe or just watch the world go by.
Overlooking the sea in Plymouth harbour, Tinside Lido is consistently voted in the top 10 of Europe’s outdoor pools. As well as the pool itself, the Tinside Lido also features a large sun terrace. Of all the places in Plymouth to get a tan, the sun terrace is easily the very best.
The sun bathing terrace is a fantastic place to sit with the family to have a picnic. The space also hosts a number of events. This includes outdoor cinema experiences, dance performances and live music.
The Lido offers relaxation and entertainment for everyone. It is both guide dog and wheelchair friendly, despite its 1930s design, so whatever your accessibility needs, the Tinside Lido provides. Parking is also available just a short distance away.
The on-site café offers a wide selection of snacks, including hot dogs, coffee, tea and of course, ice cream. If you forgot your swimming costume, do not worry! The Lido has a shop that sells swimming gear, including swimming costumes, goggles and flippers.
If you are visiting Plymouth this summer, visiting one of Europe’s best outdoor pools is an absolute must. The Tinside Lido is open 10-6pm from May to September.
