Woodgate Valley Country Park is a 450-acre area of countryside in the centre of Bartley Green and Quinton. It is located south west of Birmingham, just off Hagley Road West and the M5.

The park is made up of a variety of hedgerows, meadows, woodland, and small ponds. A small brook, known as the Bournbrook, runs through the park. It provides plenty of fresh water and helps contribute to the lush greenery of the flora.

Over 250 species of plants have been found at Woodgate Valley. The damp meadow areas are especially rich in flowers. Walk though the park in spring and summer and you’ll experience some beautiful displays of wild flowers.

The meadows also attract a surprising variety of butterflies, as well as over 90 species of birds.

Things to do in Woodgate Valley Country Park

Woodgate Valley Country Park is an ideal place to take the family for a day out. If you are visiting Birmingham, it is a scenic retreat from the bustle of the city. Activities include pony trekking, an urban farm, a café and play area.

The park is home to the Hole Farm Trekking Centre. Children and adults alike can learn to ride by pony trekking through the park.

Woodgate Valley Urban Farm is a demonstration garden and a developing traditional orchard. It has rare breed sheep, Limousin cattle, Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, poultry, pygmy goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals.

The cafe at the Visitor Centre serves a wide range of hot and cold snacks and drinks. The cafe is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

There’s so much to enjoy in the great outdoors at Woodgate Valley Country Park. Locals and visitors alike will enjoy the natural beauty found just outside Birmingham.
