About Town Moor

Town Moor is the area of Doncaster that was once home to a local patch of moorland, giving it the name, which began to be developed with the growth of the racecourse. Maps dating from the latter part of the 16th century already show a racecourse in Town Moor, making Doncaster one of the oldest surviving courses that exists to this day.

The suburb is dominated by both Doncaster Racecourse and the Town Moor Golf Club, with the area also marked out by the road names such as Town Moor Avenue. The Town Moor Ward is an area designated by the local council to cover parts of Wheatley and the old Town Field wards. The area boundaries are often now considered to be less clear, with Intake, Belle Vue and Wheatley Park all roughly covering the same part of Doncaster.

One of Doncaster’s largest outdoor spaces, Town Field (or Town Fields) in the Town Moor area is great for walking the dog, playing some football or just enjoying the outdoors for example with a picnic. The buildings around Town Field have been designated as a conservation area by the town council, seeking to preserve the beautiful green space and surrounding properties to benefit the appearance of the area for years to come.

All of the interior shutters and blinds we supply are fully made-to-measure, ensuring a top-quality finish and fit. Get in touch with us at Shuttercraft and book your free home appointment today.
