About Wickersley
Found out to the east of central Rotherham, and almost merging with neighbouring Bramley, the village of Wickersley is also close to the junction between the M1 and M18 motorways.
The land that Wickersley is now built on was once owned by the founder of Roche Abbey, Richardson of Targus, who later adopted the name ‘de Wickersley’ and built Broom Hall in Sheffield, named after his ties to Rotherham.
Wickersley School and Sports College are one of the area’s largest educational facilities that can cater for over 2,000 students, again eleven to eighteen-year-olds. It boasts a sizeable teaching staff of around 300.
Along Bawtry Road in the village centre are some places to eat, including the Masons Arms, The Garrison and the Gaslamp Brasserie. You can also get hold of several takeaway options from Bawtry Road too, with Cantonese, pizza, Indian and fish and chips all within a short distance of each other.
