About Caversham
Caversham is a quiet residential area and suburb of Reading, just north of the River Thames. There is a good selection of schools and green spaces, making Caversham popular among young families. Dating from the medieval period is the Holy Well of St Anne, a former Catholic pilgrimage site that was thought to hold powerful healing waters.
Originally a village founded in the Middle Ages, Caversham was once home to a spectacular walled house and gardens dating from the medieval period, then transformed into a tudor mansion, before being demolished in 1933. Known as Caversham Court, the house footprint is still visible in the grounds and gardens which are open to the public all year round.
