Taking its name from the Old English term for ‘village on a hill’, Boreham grew more as a settlement under the jurisdiction of Boreham House and its estate, which were built in the early 18th century for the son of a wealthy banker.
Boreham House changed hands several times over the years before being bought by Henry Ford, founder of the famous motor company, in 1930. The house is now one of many luxurious wedding venues in the wider Chelmsford area.
With the A12 to the north and the River Chelmer to the south of the village, Boreham is also close to the Great Eastern Main Line. There are stations at nearby Chelmsford and Hatfield Peverel, although there is not a station in the village itself.
During the Second World War, Boreham was home to an RAF base predominantly used by US bombers and troop transport for paratroopers. Although the airfield closed for military purposes after the war, the site has variously been used for testing Ford trucks, Essex Police Air Support and briefly as a race track.
Whether you are looking to alter your bay window, special shape or another opening, we know you will find a shutter that is right for your Boreham home. So, if you’d like to create a stylish new look for your home, simply pick up the phone and call your local Shuttercraft today.
