About Barnby Dun
Located on the banks of the mighty River Don, the village of Barnby Dun, out to the north of Doncaster, is a key point of the local canal, with the River Dun Navigation also passing the neighbouring village of Kirk Sandall.
Barnby Dun had two train stations throughout the Victorian era, situated on different sides of the village when the route of the line was moved. The second station closed during the 1960s following a swathe of updates to the national railway network, and the main station was finally demolished in 2008.
Doncaster Golf Range is in the village and focuses more on golf training than getting a round in for a full game experience. As well to the main range field, there are simulators, a pro-level shop, and there are also staff on hand to offer lessons for those that want to improve their game.
Other facilities in the village include two sets of allotments, a play park, a local Co-Op, Spar and the Olive Bar & Grill, a popular restaurant in the centre of the village. The Church of St Peter and St Paul, located in the North of Barnby Dun, is a Grade I listed building with parts dating from the 14th century.
