About Saltfleet
Located in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, the coastal village of Saltfleet has had a settlement for hundreds of years, with the parish church of St Botolph dating as far back as the 13th century. With a layout and economy now dominated by holiday parks due to its beautiful sandy beaches, it is difficult to picture the quiet little hamlet that was once sustained by local agriculture and fishing.
As well as the historic church on the edge of the village, another of the older properties in Saltfleet is the 17th century Manor House, a larger farm house that was once tied to large swathes of farmland. It was once owned by Lord Willoughby, a friend of Oliver Cromwell, and more recently has been used as a Bed and Breakfast.
Due to the extensive salt marshes nearby, Saltfleet is home to a good range of flora and fauna, including samphire, shore crabs, and saltwater friendly succulents such as Limonium vulgare (also known as Sea Lavender).
