Discover plantation shutters in Cramlington

Due to the number of houses built as part of the New Town regeneration project in the 1970s, there are a number of newer properties in Cramlington, meaning that many locals want to make their home stand out from the crowd. This can be achieved with the installation of plantation shutters, which provide privacy from passers-by, thermal insulation, light control and a degree of external noise reduction.

A number of original homes are still located throughout the town, many of which feature unusually shaped windows or large panes of glass, which are not best served by window treatments such as curtains. Shutters from Shuttercraft are available in many different colours and stains, with quotes and surveys being included free of charge for every installation.

We only supply and fit made-to-measure window shutters, so quality at great prices is guaranteed. From solid wood and MDF materials through to waterproof ABS, at Shuttercraft, we have a wide array of products perfectly suited to your home or business.

About Cramlington

Situated 9 miles north of Newcastle, Cramlington has a rich heritage, stretching back to at least 1135, when the land was granted to Nicholas de Grenville in order to build a manor.

Since that time, the area became known for the agricultural richness of the soil, being the site of several farms, as well as the coal mining industry, which developed near the town throughout the 19th Century.

During the First World War, an airbase was constructed near the town, with the author W.E. Johns, a resident of the region for a number of years, writing about Cramlington airfield in his 1935 Biggles Book ‘The Black Peril’.

Pharmaceutical companies such as Merck Sharp & Dohme and Aesica are major employers in the area, along with companies such as GE Oil & Gas. This wealth of employment opportunities combined with shopping centres such as the Manor Walks and healthcare provided at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital makes Cramlington a very desirable place to live.
