About Sandridge

Located out to the northeast of St Albans, the village of Sandridge is on the outskirts of the neighbouring town and is also roughly halfway on the road to Wheathampstead.

Just off the street known as Church End, the medieval church of St Leonard’s has unknown origins, although it is thought a wooden place of worship originated on the site in the 10th century AD. The current building largely dates from the 1120s, when the church was consecrated to the French saint by Herbert de Losinga, the first Bishop of Norwich.

One of the significant features of Sandridge’s history was the discovery of a Roman coin hoard in 2012. The well-preserved collection of over 150 coins is thought to be around 1,600 years old and is now on display at the Verulamium Museum in St Albans.

Just outside of the village boundaries is the track to Heartwood Forest. After the Woodland Trust acquired the land in 2008, Heartwood has constantly been planting, with the planned forest now boasting over half a million new trees enjoying various growth states.

Whether you live in Sandridge itself or anywhere in Hertfordshire, there will be a shutter to suit your home and style. Contact us at Shuttercraft and book your free home appointment today.
