About Codsall

When the Domesday Book was written in 1086, recording the country’s then make up, there were just six people listed as living in the area. Nowadays, the village has grown substantially, but is still a relatively small place when compared to other nearby places in the West Midlands such as Wolverhampton, Dudley and Birmingham.

The year 1849 proved to be significant for Codsall, as not only was the local church building extensively restored, the  Shrewsbury to Birmingham Railway was built with a station at Codsall. The coming of the railway led to a steady influx of people from Wolverhampton and the Black Country.

Despite its size, Codsall is actually well catered for with train travel, even to this day, with active stations at both Codsall and neighbouring Bilbrook. The two stations are located just a mile away from each other, meaning it is possible to walk between the two in about 20 minutes.

Two distinctive wedding venues can be found just to the west of the village. The Cowshed at Woodhall Farm offers a more rustic venue in a converted barn, while Pendrell Hall is a stunning Victorian mansion surrounded by beautiful lawns. Both are popular across the area, helping cater to a range of tastes when it comes to the big day.
