About Shawbirch
One of the more recent developments in the Telford area, Shawbirch began to be built on predominantly agricultural land in the 1980s as the town grew and evolved. The residential area of Shawbirch is bordered by the A442 to the east, and bisected by the B4394 which runs through to Wroxeter Roman City, the English Heritage attraction based around the ruins of Viriconium, once the fourth largest city in Roman Britain.
The most northern of Telford’s suburbs, Shawbirch is bordered by Bratton, Admaston and Dothill. With The Woolpack pub located fairly centrally in the area, right by the SPAR and Community Centre, with a number of local community services provided in one handy location.
The Rough Pits provide a wooded area with two man-made lakes being a habitat for a diverse range of local wildlife. The Pits are popular with dog walkers, and they are maintained by the Telford and Wrekin Council.
