About Mosspark
Surrounded on all sides by beautiful green spaces, making it seem less like an urban area, Mosspark is close to Bellahouston, Pollok Country Park, the Cardonald cemetery and Lochar Park. Right at the heart of the Glaswegian suburb is the Mosspark Oval, a stylised ring of houses that is also surrounded by another small green space.
The lands that now make up Mosspark was incorporated into city of Glasgow just after the turn of the 20th century. At the time, it consisted of over 70 hectares of farmland, which was needed for urgent development due to the increasing need in the centre of Glasgow due to its notorious overcrowding.
Mosspark Primary School, located on the square of land between Ashdale Drive and Balerno Drive, is a popular part of the local community, catering for younger children, including a provision for the under 5s with a dedicated Nursery Class too.
Interestingly, as a residential area, while there are some businesses and shops in Mosspark, there are no public houses or restaurants. The nearest facilities of this kind would be in the neighbouring Cardonald area, with Quo Vadis and Parkway Bar both being situated on Paisley Road West, just a short distance from each other.
