About Gardeners Green
Located directly next to the neighbouring hamlet of Holme Green, Gardeners Green is roughly halfway between Wokingham and the area of Ravenswood. Emm Brook runs past the settlement, and a small offshoot brook runs through Redlake Lane, with a little ford appearing, particularly during patches of wet weather. Redlake Lane is named due to iron staining in the water that comes from naturally occurring metal deposits in the area.
Holme Grange Craft Village can be found in a number of converted farm buildings, right next to a large plant nursery. The Craft Village is home to a number of small independent retailers that sell their homemade goods, including rungs, artwork, jewellery and pottery.
As with much of the local area, the land is still used for farming and agricultural purposes, with many plants grown under polythene tunnels throughout the year. A quick look at the satellite view on GoogleMaps will show you just how many there are near Gardeners Green – a fact that almost certainly leads to its name! The local Wyevale Garden Centre is also nearby, just off of the Heathlands Road.
