Discover plantation shutters in Holt

Situated in North Norfolk not far from the coast, Holt is a scenic little town with many independent shops and unusually owl references. There is a local legend about a troublesome owl upsetting the townspeople and miraculously escaped any time someone tried to silence it for good.

As an increasingly attractive place to live in Norfolk, Holt has seen a growing number of homeowners opting for shutters as their window treatment of choice. Café style shutters are popular for providing privacy at eye level while remaining a chic way of controlling the light.

Helping increase the kerb appeal of any property, shutters are easy to clean, and are a way of providing insulation to any home when the panels and louvres are closed. Stylish bay windows are a key part of many homes in the area, and are also perfectly suited to the shutter treatment, as they are designed to fit the shape, making the most of the light, rather than hiding it.

Whatever shape or style you may be considering, at Shuttercraft Norwich we can both supply and fit products throughout North Norfolk, including Holt itself and surrounding areas of the coast. We work with you, rather than relying on pressurised sales techniques, making sure you are perfectly happy with the right shutter for your home.

About Holt

Thought to be one of the most picturesque towns in North Norfolk, Holt is known for an abundance of Georgian buildings, built after the great fire of 1708 destroyed the majority of the existing medieval buildings which were still largely constructed from timber.

Dating back at least as far as the Domesday Book of 1086, Holt is thought to derive from the Anglo-Saxon word for woodland. At the time it was home to five watermills and twelve plough teams, and held a weekly market until the 20th century, and still holds one off markets from time to time. In recent years, the quaint town layout, boutique shops and local attractions have made Holt an increasingly desirable location in the county.

Despite the railway line being closed to the public in 1965 with changes to the rail network, the North Norfolk Railway continues to operate the “Poppy Line” to Holt as an independent heritage line. The town was also the birthplace of Sebastian Shaw, known as the original actor to play the unmasked Darth Vader in 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
