About Walcot
One of the larger suburbs in Swindon, Walcot is located to the east of Swindon’s town centre, branching off from the main A4259, Queen’s Drive. The Queen’s Drive Campus of New College Swindon, one of two main areas of learning in Swindon, can be seen as something of a gateway to the area, with Walcot’s park and play area backing on to the college premises.
Walcot started to be developed from the 1950s onwards, with families from London seeking space away from the city, but still within commutable distance from the capital. The train from Swindon to London Paddington lasts around 1 hour, making it a viable option for people working in the City.
