Home to more than 300 farm animals and a whole host of activities, shows and attractions, Willows Activity Farm provides a fantastic experience for young families in Hertfordshire. There is a range of fun to be had across acres of the site including daily shows and the ability to meet characters from Peter Rabbit and Friends.
The Farm is one of the leading family attractions in the area boasting an estimated 450,000 visitors a year, or more. It is designed to appeal to both children and adults alike, helping grown-ups revisit their own childhoods, with a wide variety of traditional farm experiences and a healthy dose of Peter Rabbit!
The day our promises to be “a fun-packed programme whatever the weather”, though requires the use of a car as it is a bit out of the way. Many online reviews indicate to a joyous day out in sunnier weather, but when it isn’t so great, the owners have aimed to provide plenty of indoor adventure soft play too.
Widely included in the farm’s marketing material is the Peter Rabbit adventure playground. It is designed for kids who love the original tales as well as those who simply love a good run around. As well as a carousel, there are also inflatables, tractor rides and so much more. Areas such as Jeremy Fisher’s Music Pond or Lily Bobtail’s Nature Discovery Area are perfect locations to meet characters from the books and TV series.
With acres of countryside to cover, families can meet some adorable animals along the way, such as alpacas, owls and lots of rabbits. There is also a seasonally changing programme, with lambing during February Frolics, as well as Easter Egg hunts, A-maize-ing Maze, Pumpkin Festival and Santa’s Grotto.
With a convenient location at the South East of St Albans, and just a short distance from the M25, Willows Activity Farm is truly a family day out that is fun for all. Keeping kids happy and entertained can often be a challenge, but there is so much to see and do that it is a firm favourite among locals living in the area.
The staff are said to be both helpful and friendly and are always there to guide visitors round. The Farm is an exciting and fun place that should occupy even the most challenging or energetic of youngsters.
