About Brentwood

Due to its location, just off of junction 28 of the M25, and only 20 miles from central London, Brentwood has long been considered a key commuter town for people that work in the city. It is also the 8th biggest settlement in Essex, with companies such as Amstrad, Ford, Thermos, LV and Equity Insurance once providing many jobs for residents.

Despite its urban/suburban setting, Brentwood is surrounded by large swathes of woodland and countryside, much of which is protected land as an attempt to slow down the effects of industrialisation in the capital. Over 500 acres of Weald Country Park, located just west of Brentwood, is a vast green space once based around Weald Hall, the local manor house, and was originally the site of an Iron Age hillfort.

There are many notable people to come from Brentwood or have called it home over the years, including F1 driver Johnny Herbert, actor Stephen Moyer, and former glamour model turned TV personality, Jodie Marsh. The selective independent education provided at Brentwood School, founded in the 1500s, has made it perfect as a place of study for many notable former pupils, including novelist Douglas Adams, broadcaster Noel Edmonds, and politician Jack Straw and footballer Frank Lampard.

The town’s high street is located at a crossroads in the centre, where the A1023 Shenfield Road intersects with the A128 Ongar Road. A number of restaurants and cafes sit along the main road, including Zizzi, Pizza Express and The DairyMan, a local JD Wetherspoon pub.

Whether you live in Brentwood or in surrounding places such as Mountnessing, Hutton, Hordon or Doddinghurst, there will be a shutter to suit your sense of interior design. Get in touch with us at Shuttercraft and book your free home appointment today.
