About Radlett
Located within the M25 and just east of Watford, the village of Radlett is based in the valley of Tykes Water (otherwise known as the Brook), a stream that runs into the River Colne. Radlett grew up as a stopping point on the ancient Watling Street, one of the oldest trackways in Britain.
The main high street in Radlett is still called Watling Street, following its original route, although much of the original thoroughfare has been replaced. Many shops and restaurants along the road, including the Radlett Centre, the local community theatre, and the Red Lion pub and hotel, the village’s only remaining traditional public house.
Due to its proximity to the capital, combined with good railway routes into nearby St Albans, Luton, and Rainham, Radlett has thrived as a commuter hub and, with the village feel, provided the perfect home over the years for many notable people.
