About West Bridgford
Tied to neighbouring Nottingham via several bridges, West Bridgford is one of the homes of Nottinghamshire County Council, as well as boasting a number of sporting grounds. Recorded as a settlement as far back as the Domesday Book of 1086, West Bridgford has had a varied history, really only being developed during the later Victorian era. The town likely gained its name roughly about the year 924, when King Edward the Elder had a bridge built over the Trent.
Due to the time in which the town underwent the most development, there are a number of Victorian buildings, although the area continues to undergo the construction of newer housing developments.
