Discover plantation shutters in Burford

With many beautiful properties crafted from Cotswold stone, traditional solid panel shutters are an ideal choice for the various homes in Burford, particularly on its main street of the Hill. The traditional building design makes them perfect for the stylish benefits of shutters, providing an additional layer of insulation on top of excellent light control and privacy.

As many homeowners have come to discover, older homes often feature uniquely shaped windows, requiring a made-to-measure approach. Portholes, arches and gable ends can be perfectly complemented with special shape shutters, but even regular squares or rectangles are often not exact, meaning that a custom-crafted solution is the most effective.

As a truly versatile solution, shutters are a great choice if you’re considering the option for beautiful bays and classic sash windows. Available in a range of different colours and materials, your local Shuttercraft will also be able to provide you with details about handy time-saving devices such as PowerMotion and AutoClose.

Window shutters and plantation blinds are a stylish solution whether you have a more traditional period home or a beautiful new build. They not only give an incredible sense of interior design, but shutters also control the light, provide privacy and increase the insulation of your home.

About Burford

The medieval town of Burford on the banks of the River Windrush is often seen as the gateway to the Cotswolds, and is roughly halfway between Oxford and Cheltenham, growing as a town around the Augustinian priory. The priory itself was established in the 13th century and was turned into a large country house in the Elizabethan period.

Three ringleaders of the Banbury mutiny were executed on the grounds of Burford’s church, St John the Baptist. It was an attempt to overthrow Oliver Cromwell and other leaders of the New Model Army over issues of pay and political demands sympathetic with the Leveller’s cause.

Just 19 miles west of Oxford, Burford is the opposite side of the River Windrush from the scenic village of Fulbrook. Easily accessible by the A40, Burford has wonderful little side streets to explore, old pubs, tea and antique shops aplenty. The Tolsey, once the focal point for the wool trade in Burford, located midway through the High Street, is now a museum. A fine three-arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill.
