Hangingwater Road Nethergreen, 102 Hangingwater Rd, Sheffield S11 7ER
Planet Pot is a café and ceramic decoration studio on Hangingwater Road near Endcliffe Park in Sheffield. Popular particularly with families, the café caters equally for people who drop in for a coffee, want to spend a creative afternoon, of for childrens parties. The friendly owners and staff are on hand to give artistic guidance, and everyone who creates gets to take home a wonderful memento of their time there.
The handy location means that a stroll up the Eccleshall road from the city centre or a bus to Hunters Bar leaves you with a short and extremely picturesque walk through the beautiful and historic Endcliffe Park, and from there, you have the option to go further upstream on the porter to Shepherd Wheel or Forge Dam.
Planet Pot is clearly a hit with visitors, with every Trip Advisor review at the time of writing 4/5 or above. Reviewers speak of children discussing the experience nearly a decade later, and how even the most doubtful children are won over by the friendly, enthusiastic staff. Many chose it as a couple’s activity for an afternoon, and they’re every bit as enthusiastic as the ones who had taken children.
Not only is the activity highly rated, the food and drink is universally appreciated for its high quality and reasonable price.
For inspiration, or if you leave in need of more creativity, why not visit the nearby Helix Gallery, with its exhibition of contemporary artists, several of whom are direct collaborators with the gallery. Occasionally there are works for sale, or simply feed the ducks in the mill ponds in the park on your way back from this lovely experience? There are also a number of good restaurants in the area if you’re looking for something a little more substantial. Rafters is particularly noteworthy.
