Gloucester Road, Upton St Leonards GL4 8AA
The Kings Head is located in the charming village of Upton St Leonards, situated between Painswick and Gloucester, in the Cotswolds.
The Kings Head has a long and interesting history. When it was first built, the pub was used as a Coaching Inn, and operated as such for many years.
At this time, coaching Inns were required as part of the transportation infrastructure before railway travel. The Inns acted like rest stops or modern-day motorway services, offering food, drink and a well-earned break for those travelling around the country.
Urban legend has it that Henry VIII would visit the Kings Head after his hunting parties, and would visit with his fellow hunters. It is also believed that Henry VIII himself named the pub.
Nowadays, the Kings Head serves as a local pub for many of the residents of St Leonards and the surrounding area, and of course to visitors and tourists too!
The Kings Head offer a full menu for lunch and dinner, with light meal options and one-off specials. This is the perfect place for a quick bite to eat, or for an enjoyable evening and delicious meal with family and friends.
