Coming in a wide range of colours, shapes, sizes and materials, our interior shutters are guaranteed to compliment any décor, whether for a classic look or a more contemporary finish.

Reflecting heat and insulating against heat loss, our shutters are an efficient window covering, helping your home stay warmer in winter, meaning you need to switch on the heating slightly less. When coupled with an integrated blind, this increases even more, helping your home be heat-wave resistant too!

The ideal way to finish off any room décor, shutters can also be used as room dividers or bespoke wardrobe doors. The large glass expanses of French doors also make them ideal for the shutter treatment, letting you control the light in your space.

About Sawston

Located south of Cambridge on the banks of the River Cam, the village of Sawston has existed as a settlement since the time of the Domesday Book, when it was recorded as having just 38 households. The village remained largely untouched for several hundred years and has only been developed since the end of the Second World War.

The Grade I listed Tudor manor house known as Sawston Hall, centred in the Sawston estate, was privately owned by just one wealthy family between 1517, when it was built and the 1980s, when the property was sold to become a language school. It was extensively featured in the 1971 Marlon Brando movie The Nightcomers, a prequel story to Henry James’ classic novella, The Turn of the Screw.

The village’s low-lying nature indicates a former flood plain in the area which still tends towards the moist ground due to its proximity to the river and the abundance of clay underneath the soil. Over the years, however, groundwork on clearing ditches and streams has meant that flooding in the village is no longer an issue.

In the village, High Street are still several active shops, takeaways, and pubs such as the White Lion and Greyhound. There is even a quaint little tea room. Also on the High Street is Challis House, a well preserved house and garden donated to people of the village by Mary Challis from a local family who had been in Sawston for five generations.
