About Woodlands
Based around the Hookstone Drive area of Harrogate’s suburbs, Woodlands is situated the other side of the Stray from High Harrogate. The main A661 runs through Woodlands, and runs from Harrogate to Wetherby via the scenic village of Spofforth. Spofforth Castle was the home of the Percy family for hundreds of years, thought to partially be the inspiration for the character of Percy in the TV series Blackadder.
The Great Yorkshire Showground is situated in the Woodlands area, which is where the Great Yorkshire Show (agricultural fair) is based, and have received the Royal seal of approval, with visits from HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Throughout the year, the showground is home to an Events Centre, café, caravan park, wedding centre and gift fair. Pavilions of Harrogate is located on the edge of the site and is a popular wedding venue and meeting rooms.
There are a wide variety of facilities for Woodlands residents, include churches, nurseries, Harrogate’s Household Waste Recycling Centre, Sainsbury’s and Willow Tree Community Primary School. Despite the abundance of streams and spa waters in the Harrogate area, Woodlands actually is not directly linked with any natural water sources.
