Based on the banks of the River Stour, with the canal running through its city centre, Wolverhampton is a proud centre of industry in the West Midlands that can be dated back as far as an abbey founded in the area by King Wulfhere in 659AD. Although mentioned in some records, no physical trace of the abbey has ever been found.

At Shuttercraft Telford, we don’t rely on pressurised sales techniques but instead focus on helping you choose the right window treatments to match your design choices and requirements. We believe in letting the quality of our products and installations speak for themselves and are intent on providing the friendliest service.

Interior window shutters are so much more than a method of light control, providing additional insulation for your home, helping keep prying eyes out and can be easily cleaned. Every shutter is made to measure, so you can be assured of a perfect fit, fantastic style and quality that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Whether you live in Wolverhampton itself or nearby areas like Kingswinford or Stourbridge, you can rest assured there is a shutter just for you, and at Shuttercraft, we’re here to help you find just the right one.

About Wolverhampton

In 985, the land known as Wolverhampton was granted to Lady Wulfrun by King Ethelred the Unready, legitimising the existing settlement and leading to the town’s foundation. Shortly afterwards, in 994, a monastery was founded in the nascent Wolverhampton, to which Lady Wulfrun granted land.

One of the main areas of the Industrial Revolution, from the 16th century onwards, Wolverhampton became home to lock and key making and iron and brass working. However, its development was hampered by two Great Fires: the first in April 1590 and the second in September 1696, both of which started on today’s Salop Street.

The centre of Wolverhampton has been altered radically since the mid-1960s, with the Mander Shopping Centre being opened to the public in 1968 and the Wulfrun Centre, an open shopping area, which was opened the same year but has been undercover since a roof was added in the late 1990s.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club, commonly known as Wolves, is a professional football club that has played at Molineux Stadium since 1889. Formed as St. Luke’s FC in 1877, Wolves was one of the founding members of the Football League in 1888, has won the FA Cup four times, and now competes in the Premier League.

Many musicians come from Wolverhampton, the most famous being Slade, known for their Christmas anthem “Merry Xmas Everybody”. Babylon Zoo, Beverley Knight, One Direction singer Liam Payne, and Cornershop’s Tjinder Singh also call the city home. Kevin Rowland, the lead singer of Dexys Midnight Runners, was born in Wednesfield, the former village now included within the city’s limits.
