About Brighouse

The town of Brighouse is located right in the heart of West Yorkshire, between Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield and has great transport links so is really easy to get to, whether you are travelling by road, bus or rail.

Brighouse is extremely well placed with links to other large towns such as Halifax, Leeds and Manchester.

There have been settlements in the area since at least the Roman times when there was a river crossing called Snake Hill Ford across the River Calder. In 1275 Rastrick Bridge was recorded as being the river crossing. A stone replacement still exists in the same area of Brighouse, dating back to 1750.

There are a number of Brass Bands operating in the town, and the town is well served by a number of local newspapers such as the Brighouse Echo. The rock band Embrace originated from the North of the town. An annual 1940s Weekend is popular among residents, and happens in June, with re-enactments, vintage vehicles, market, fairground, and steam train rides.
